On 8 September 2023, an earthquake with a moment magnitude of 6.8–6.9 struck Morocco’s Marrakesh–Safi region. At least 2,900 deaths were reported, with most occurring outside Marrakesh. Damage was widespread, and historic landmarks in Marrakesh were destroyed.

Banque Alimentaire du Maroc (Morocco Food Bank)

The non-profit collects food from various donors and redistributes it through a network of associations and social protection institutions. They shared their bank details on social media, encouraging people to support their efforts.

The High Atlas Foundation, a Morocco-based U.S. nonprofit, is providing food, water, and shelter to families in the High Atlas Mountains displaced by the earthquake. The foundation is also committed to long-term restoration and rebuilding.

CARE Morocco, which launched in 2008, focuses on youth and disadvantaged groups in rural areas of the country. International Medical Corps

The International Medical Corps, a global humanitarian organization, is working with the World Health Organization to send medical units and supplies to Morocco.
